1,300 UPSR pupils attend counselling

PENAMPANG: A total of 1,300 UPSR candidates from 15 schools in Penampang who have to re-sit several exam papers were given counselling and motivational talks as part of efforts to lift their spirits.They were among the many UPSR candidates nationwide who have to re-sit for the exam papers, namely English, Science, Mathematics and Tamil language papers which were leaked and distributed to students via social media. The re-sit for English and Science papers has been scheduled for Sept. 30 (Tuesday). ADVERTISEMENT SMK Tansau Guidance and Counseling Teacher Sabriah Mili said the motivation programme was part of a special module designed by the State Education Department for Primary Six pupils who had to re-sit for the exam. She said there was a mixed reaction from pupils with some expressing anger, disappointment and stress because they have to re-sit the exam, thus the aim of the programme was to offer them emotional support. The six-day programme started on Sept 21 with therapy activities which involves art, games and music as well as group counseling. Also present at the programme was the Penampang Education Officer Mojuntin Ebin.
