12 oil tanker lorries destroyed in blaze

KOTA KINABALU: Fire destroyed about 12 oil tanker lorries at the premises of a company at Kampung Gudon along Jalan Tuaran Bypass, causing million ringgit of losses, last night.It was learnt that the fire began at about 9.10pm and a series of explosions could be heard by nearby residents.Some forty firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at about 9.22pm and they were reported to be still fighting the blaze at press time.

The lorries, it was learnt, were all loaded with fuel ready for distribution today (Wednesday) by the company, Lian Hin Megah (Sipitang) Sdn Bhd, which has been operating there for more than 10 years.The cause of the fire is being investigated.
