OUM Sabah forms smart partnership with PKPS

KOTA KINABALU: Open University Malaysia (OUM) Sabah has started initial discussions with Sabah Entrepreneurial and Industrial Association (PKPS) for future smart partnerships, starting with a Mini Education Carnival in November.According to OUM Sabah Director, Lamjin Atoh, the initial discussions revealed that both OUM and PKPS have a common goal in terms of education for the public and the university is eager to collaborate with the NGO."I am glad that NGOs like PKPS are taking initiatives by mooting out their ideas about a smart partnership with higher education institutions like OUM and I am glad that both OUM and PKPS has a common goal - that is to create awareness on the importance of education.ADVERTISEMENT "We will start this collaboration by first organising a Mini Education Carnival in November where there will be many promotional activities and programmes conducted including exhibitions, seminars and even autoshows for the public," he said.Lamjin said this to reporters after chairing a meeting between OUM and PKPS, which was represented by its president, Dato' Fadli Fathullah at the University, here, Thursday."As PKPS is an NGO that has a lot of working-class members, OUM can provide certain programmes for PKPS members who are interested in furthering their studies while they are working."We are also going to look into possible new course developments together wil PKPS and its associates including the Sabah Successful Women Entrepreneur Association (Perwanis)," Lamjin added.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

OUM and PKPS is also expected to be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future to make the partnership between the higher education institute and the NGO official."We will now go through all the necessary paperwork and get the approval from top management before we proceed with officially signing an agreement and making this smart partnership official," Lamjin added.
