Roundabout to be built at K'gau junction to ease jams

KENINGAU: A roundabout will be built at the Keningau-Nabawan road from the Pegalan Bridge to replace the Ansip and Jalan Magatang crossroad in order to reduce traffic congestion and accidents.District Engineer, Matthew Wong also called for cooperation from operators of heavy vehicles to use the old road that passes Kampung Ferry instead of the road through the teachers' institute.At the same time, he said the government was also studying to build a roundabout at the Kimanis road junction so that vehicles can go through once the 339km Keningau-Tawau is fully tarred.

Meanwhile, residents at the nearby villages namely Ansip Laut and Kebulu welcomed the construction of the roundabout saying it would help reduced the congestion.Several fatal accidents had also been recorded in the area at the present crossroad, they said.
