KOTA KINABALU: THE Sabah Housing and Town Development Authority (SHTDA) is considering to deploy its personnel to remove all the "objects" on the parking lots servicing the tenants of the Low Cost Flats in Tanjung Aru. Disgruntled tenants had initially urged the caretaker of the flats to act on those who monopolised the parking spaces in that residential. They are upset over the action to put barricades on these spaces as means to hinder others from occupying them.

Apparently the errant tenants will place certain objects such as chairs or plastic pails and they even orange-coloured traffic cone on the parking spaces.

A SHTDA spokesman, when contacted , said it was aware of the situation that happened at every block of the residential flats there.

"We didn't sit on the complaints (that they received from the tenants there) and in fact we took initiative to solve it by setting up a huge signboard at the main entrance of the flats to remind all the tenants not to book the parking lots.

"But sadly all our efforts to deal with that, including pasting a similar notice on the wall near the staircases of each floor of every blocks just fell on deaf ears," he stressed.

At one point, he said it had resorted to handing over such notice to the tenants of every unit there. "We did see some improvement lately but there are still a few who are still stubborn ," he added.

He said it also received reports that those who insisted to park at the spot which had been barred entry by the errant individuals, had their cars scratched.

"This is too much and we are not condoning such mischievous act and this is why we are deeply considering of taking this matter one step ahead by clearing the objects there ourselves.

He also advised all tenants to settle their unit rental before the due date to avoid inconveniences on their part.

"This selfishness is totally unacceptable to us who often come home late from work.

Where else they expect us to park?," asked ROB, who spoke on behalf of many disgruntled tenants.

He bemoaned the inconveniences of having to walk the distance to his car as he had to park a few metres away from the staircase of the building block where his unit is located.

"It's really frustrating for many of us especially women whose safety is at stake for parking their car far from their block," he stressed.

He said he dared not remove the barricades in order to occupy the space for fear that his vehicle would be subjected to vandalism.

"I'm not saying that they have done that to our car before but we just don't dare to do that for that reason," he added.

He hoped the relevant authority step in immediately to solve the perennial parking constraint in that residential area.

"I don't think they have been granted permission to have exclusive use of that spaces by the authority," he added.
