MELAKA: A security guard claimed trial in the Magistrate's Court here Monday to physically abusing his seven-year-old daughter.Abdul Mutalib Sivakumar Abdullah, 36, allegedly committed the offence at a house in Paya Rumput here at 7.15 pm on Sept 29. The victim's stepmother Nurul Najwa Abdullah, 31, also claimed trial to committing a similar offence at the same place at 8.30 pm, the same day.

They were charged under Section 3(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which carries a fine of up to RM20,000 or imprisonment of up to 10 years, upon conviction.
