Dangerous driving: Dance teacher pleads not guilty

KOTA KINABALU: A 21-year-old dance teacher was charged at the Traffic Court on Monday with dangerous driving which led to the death of a motorcyclist two years ago.Tan Yuen Nie of Kluang, Johor pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Mohd Faiz Omar.She is accused of driving a Proton Iswara car in a dangerous manner which resulted in the death of motorcyclist Dyjee Fyhaq Julaji, 20, at 6.40pm on Nov 20, 2012 at Jalan Bundusan near the junction to Damai Club, in Penampang.

The offence under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act carries a jail term of between two years and 10 years and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM20,000, on conviction.Faiz set Nov 3 for case management and released Tan on a bail of RM2,000 in two sureties and also ordered her driving licence to be kept by the court pending the disposal of the case.Tan is represented by counsel Sazalye Donol.Meanwhile, six motorists aged between 19 and 34, were fined a total of RM10,600 for drink-driving.

Nourneikman Tajudin, Leong Siaw Bin, Kok Han Yung, Mohd Shriddun Abdullah, Michael Sidis Majamin and Ng Jian Wei, separately pleaded guilty before Faiz and Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus.They had committed the offence at different locations along Jalan Lintas, Jalan Coastal, Jalan Kolam and near the Dataran Bandaran here between April 20 and Oct 12.

Nuorneikman and Leong were ordered to pay a fine of RM2,500 each while Ng, Michael, Shriddun and Kok were fined RM1,800, RM1500, RM1,300 and RM1,000 respectively.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
