KOTA KINABALU: Sabah emerged national overall champion at the Unity English Carnival 2014 held in Ipoh, Perak. The State's shining performance however did not come easy as all schools fought tooth and nail at the national stage. SMK St Francis Convent emerged champion in the choral speaking competition, SJK (Chinese) St James emerged runner-up in the action song category, while Lahad Datu finished third in the story-telling category.

St Francis Convent also took home the best conductor title. Education Director Datuk Jame Alip who was proud of the schools' achievement.
"If Sabah can do its best in any co-curriculum, there are no reasons for us not to be able to topple schools in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Putrajaya and others," he said. "What is important is to double our commitment and show extraordinary effort if we want to succeed."
