KOTA KINABALU: Government officers must remain committed, dedicated and trustworthy in carrying out their duties to improve public services and curb corruption issues, said Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Datuk Siringan Gubat.According to him, the Government, as part of efforts to achieve a well-developed nation by year 2020, had introduced several initiatives to strengthen its management system.

"The Government will replace the Administrative System Committee (JKTU) with the Government Administrative Management System (JITU).

"Sabah Public Services Integrity Plan 2014-2017 was also introduced to improve efficiency in terms of public services as well as to overcome bureaucracy issues," he said when launching the State ICT Seminar at Tabung Haji hotel, here, Tuesday.

He encouraged the usage of ICT among the people in line with its current development.

"Payments can be made at kiosks instead of payment counters to solve issues concerning the lack of staff. Therefore, it (payments) can be done faster and without any errors," he explained.

Siringan also said that more services can be offered through the application of the Internet, SMS, mobile applications and others.

The seminar themed "Pemerkasaan ICT Pemantapan Integriti Penjawat Awam" was organised through a joint collaboration with the State Computer Services Department, Intan Sabah Campus, Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) Sabah, Malaysia Cocoa Board and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

The seminar was held to promote integrity and the use of information technology (ICT) among the ministry and agency officers besides improving public services through the application of ICT.

Towards the end, Siringan urged all participants to understand their job requirements and responsibilities as well as to practise integrity and remain committed throughout the implementation of the Government's application systems.
