KENINGAU: There are certain parties who are trying to divert the minds of the people to hate the government, said Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Ellron Afred Angin. He said the government has planned many programmes but they cannot run smoothly because people are incited by negative propaganda by irresponsible individuals.

Ellron reminded the people to dismiss the propaganda and continue to be united in supporting every development programme given by the government.

"The development programmes are for the good of your future," he said.

The Assistant Minister said every programme planned or organised by the government through their agencies and departments are designed to benefit the people in all levels of society regardless of race and religion.

He reminded the people to not get influenced by information spread in social networks and study the content thoroughly before making any decisions.

"People must try to find out the truth about anything published online rather than just believing everything as they are published," he said in a speech during the Pensiangan Women and Family Development (MPWK) Family Day at the Sook community hall on Sunday.

Ellron, who is also Sook Assemblyman said that it is important for the people to be cautious especially as the world moves into rapid IT development, as not everything posted online will benefit the people.

Earlier, Ellron praised Pensiangan MPWK for their efforts in organising the Family Day programme as it fosters friendship and unity among the people in the area.

He said such efforts should be continued in the future because it will also allow people to know the latest so that people will not get carried away with false information posted by irresponsible individuals especially online.
