Lions RM6,000 donations to three organisations

KOTA KINABALU: Lions Club presented cheques for RM6,000 to Sabah Thalassaemia Society, Partners of Community Organisations in Sabah (Pacos) as well as Jireh Home at the Star City Management Office here, Tuesday."The funds were raised through the profits we raised during the World Lions Service Day on Oct 6," said its Organising Chairman Dr. Andrew Sim Yee Sheng.The event was held in conjunction with the recent Sabah Tourism Exhibition and Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (SATTA) Fair 2014.

According to him, there were various activities held during the event such as the doughnut decoration contest, health check, health talk, cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstrations.Sabah Thalassaemia Society received a total of RM2, 400 whereas Pacos and Jireh Home received RM1, 800 each respectively.Sabah Thalassaemia Society President Francis Mujim thanked the Lions Club for the contribution."The money that we received will be used to hold programmes such as awareness campaigns and visiting the districts throughout Sabah," he said.

On the other hand, Pacos Trust President Anne Lasimbang also thanked Lions Club for their assistance,Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

"The financial aid we received will be used to build a library at one of our learning community centres at Kg Alap Lanas," she said.

Meanwhile Jireh Home Committee Member, Datin Dr. Molly Matthew also thanked Lions Club for their contributions to assist their students.
