YB: Need to respect sensitivities

LAHAD DATU: Lahad Datu Assemblyman Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal called on all races and religions to respect each other's sensitiveness in order to preserve the harmony and security of the country.Yusof said Malaysia is a very special country with multiracial community living in peace and harmony, adding that such privilege should be preserved because it is hard to find in other countries.

"We are aware that there are irresponsible parties trying to take advantage of our peaceful country and divide our people with their various agenda. This could undermine the unity of our community.

"I hope our community will not be fooled and swayed with their agenda and hope that they will continue to strive to strengthen unity among us, regardless of religion and race," he said when met after attending the Deepavali Open House of Silam MIC Chief, A.Nagaraju on Wednesday.

"We live in a multiracial country and it is imperative for us to preserve the stability by respecting each other, especially on religious sensitivity, thus, we should share in the joy of celebrating the festivals together."

He added that through the festivals, unity and getting to know the culture and tradition of other society can be strengthen thus enabling harmony to be preserved.

Yusof also wish 'Deepavali Nalvaltthukkal' or Happy Deepavali to all Malaysian, especially to the Indian community.

Also present were Silam Wanita Umno leader, Mizmah Appehdullah, Lahad Datu Community Development Officer, Amat Kawoh, Silam Pemuda Umno Vice chief, Rahmat Datuk Yusuf and Silam Umno committee members.
