TENOM: A 75-year old retiree, Alfred Tai was left dumbfounded after his complaints of foul smell from clogged drains to the housing developer here fell on deaf ears.Tai said the developer of Taman Ko Pendi near Taman Mantailang had refused to acknowledge his problem even after he filed similar complaints to the local authority, Drainage and Irrigation Department and Health Department.

He said he had no other alternative but to publish his complaint in the newspaper with the hope that relevant authorities would step up to assist him.

The Taman Ko Pendidi was completed about two years ago but only three lots were occupied while about a hundred more lots are still vacant. The housing area is situated next to Tai's house.

Tai alleged that the drainage system of the housing area does not follow the correct specifications and consistently caused blockage, especially after heavy rain.

"I am worried that once all the vacant lots are occupied, the condition will worsen. Now there are only three occupants, and already, the smell is unbearable.

"How did the developer managed to obtain the Occupational Certificate (OC) from the local authorities?" asked Tai, who is also a Councillor with the District Council.
