PUTATAN: MP Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh said he has no qualms about working together with the opposition if it concerns the rights of the people in Sabah."I advise the opposition (elected representatives) that we work together because anything concerning Sabah, I am all for it. So we'll struggle together for Sabah.

"But don't go and poke your nose in other constituencies. Fine, if you want to be vocal but what is the purpose of making personal attacks against the BN leaders?" he asked.

Mojigoh said as far as he was concerned, he and several other BN MPs from Sabah had taken the lead by raising Sabah and the people's issues in Parliament.

"Why do they (opposition MPs) keep quiet?" he asked.

Mojigoh, who had been the centre of criticism by an opposition MP from neighbouring Penampang pertaining to the recent flash floods, said the opposition should also talk based on facts and truth.

"Don't raise racial sentiments and provoke the sensitivity of the people," he said when met after presenting assistance to Kampung Duvanson, St Simon Church Duvanson, Putatan Tai Pak Kung Temple, management of the Meruntum, Kandazon and Papason cemetery committees and two schools at his parliamentary office in Duvanson, here, Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Mojigoh also presented assistance to 34 heads of families hit by floods and eight fire victims in Kampung Lembising as well as 13 flood victims in Kampung Sendil.

Towards this end, Mojigoh said the village development and security committee (JKKK) has an important role to provide explanation and correct information to the people on the ground.

He said the opposition had been claiming that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had not been doing anything to help address the flood situation in Penampang and here.

Mojigoh expressed disappointment that the most complaints were from his own village with one of his first cousins even cursing him in the social media while asking for his whereabouts when the flood happened.

"They accused me of going for holidays in Hawaii but they didn't know that I was in Hawaii for 10 days to lead a delegation of MPs from Malaysia for the World Peace Conference," he said.

He said he had already declined to go to two other lengthy conferences abroad but he could not back out from the Hawaii trip because he had given his commitment.

"If I had known that there will be flood tomorrow, I would not have gone," he said.

Nonetheless, Mojigoh said he was in constant contact with his parliamentary liaison officers and directed them to go to the ground to provide whatever assistance to the victims.

He said he was also fighting for the right of Sabahans and the opposition MPs like Darrel Leiking of Penampang should not be out to "kill the fighter."
