Study to be conducted on disparity: Ka Siong

TAWAU:ADVERTISEMENT A study should be conducted on the escalating price of construction materials in Sabah, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Wee Ka Siong. "Once we know the reason, we will be able to find a way to resolve it," he told reporters after a dialogue session with stakeholders here on Saturday night. He cited the price of a 50kg bag of cement which costs around RM20 in Sabah, compared to RM12 in the peninsula. Meanwhile, Wee also noted that the transportation system in Sabah needed to be improved and widened.According to him, a good transportation system is a catalyst for the progress of a state."Aside from that, a good transportation system is crucial for development of the various industries in Sabah," he said.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

On the dialogue, Wee said the goods and services tax (GST), which would be implemented in April next year, was among the issues discussed."They know that the Government is implementing the GST not to burden the people but for long term benefit, for the people and country," he added.
