KUALA LUMPUR: High Performance Schools (HPS) have been urged to maintain their excellence, which would be used as a benchmark for the national education system to achieve world class standard.Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the HPS' accomplishments had proven that the country's education system is capable of producing brilliant students.

The Ministry would provide an allocation annually for the HPS' administration and their parent teachers' association to identify enhancement strategies through teaching and learning technique intervention, he said. He said this after presenting the certificate of recognition to nine headmasters and four principals whose schools have made it into the HPS list under Cohort 5 this year.

Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, said HPS that fail to maintain their performance consecutively for three years would be removed from the list.

He also urged HPS to interact and guide promising schools towards academic excellence.
