KUALA NERUS: The 1Malaysia 1Media Cycling Expedition, comprising 12 media practitioners, which is into its 13th day, has crossed the half-way mark of their 1,200km journey. The expedition which started from Kuala Lumpur on Oct 18 and expected to end in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 10, arrived in Kuala Terengganu, after passing through eight states, late Wednesday. The expedition was organised by the Utusan Melayu Recreation Club with the cooperation of the 1Media Recreational and Welfare Club in conjunction with the 2014 Visit Malaysia Year.ADVERTISEMENT National News Agency (Bernama) journalist Linda Khoo, who had never taken part in a cycling expedition before, said the expedition acutely tested her physical and mental ability."But, I am thankful, after the fifth day, I started to enjoy cycling. It is definitely a gain because I can enjoy the beauty of nature, get to know the different cultures and food in each State that we passed," she said.Malaysian Gazette's Noor Asre Kuzairey Salim, who had cycled to Johor from Kuala Lumpur before, said the ride was truly challenging as the route took them over the Main Range, 1,200 metres above sea level, involving a 45km ride."We are forced to endure the uncertain weather, often strong winds, blistering hot weather and heavy rain.ADVERTISEMENT "The East Coast is also entering the monsoon season, but we are not disheartened, as we want to prove media practitioners also can conquer the peninsula on bicycles," she said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
