KOTA KINABALU: A 28-year-old Murut masseuse, charged with causing the death of her former pastor boyfriend, told the Sessions Court that she did not do it on purpose as she was under the influence of 'saka' (spirit that is passed down from generation to generation in the family).Ammy Lian Amparol, whose case came up for pre-trial case management before Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad, admitted to committing the offence on one Josyua Jasbon, 31, at 8pm on May 10 this year at a third floor rented room in front of the Restoran Day and Night in Bandaran Berjaya, here."I admit but I did not do it on purpose…because I was under the influence of my father's 'saka'. I had neglected it for quite sometime. On that night, I was disturbed (by the saka)," said Ammy.

However, the court rejected Ammy's guilty plea, ruling the plea must be unconditional and that the case will therefore proceed to trial.Ainul set Jan 6, 2015 for trial.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Dominic Chew said the prosecution has 15 witnesses for the case.Earlier, Chew informed the court that Ammy had been referred to the Hospital Mesra in Bukit Padang and that a report had been obtained which stated that she is fit to stand trial.

Ammy is charged under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 30 years and a fine, on conviction.She was not represented.

In the Magistrate's Court, a 44-year-old, Coco Min Choi, was jailed a total of 14 months for drug offences.

Coco, who appeared before Magistrate Mohd Faiz Omar, was handed 10 months' jail for having 0.2gm of syabu at 6.30pm on Sept 22 in Penampang and received another four months for taking drugs on the same day.Inspector Syahrin Ali prosecuted.
