KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian pro Nicholas Fung hopes he can have better luck on his putting in the remaining rounds of the 2014 CIMB Classic. Fung struggled with a cold putter for the second consecutive day as he lingered in tied 61st position in the 78-man field which has no cut at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.

"I want to return to when I started learning to putt, just do the basics. I went for a few putting lessons recently, hoping that it would help me but it has not. I need to go back to basics," said Fung when met by reporters after completing his second round just before it was suspended for two hours due to lightning and rain.

With a two-day total of three-over 147, Fung, who qualified for the CIMB Classic by being the highest ranked Malaysian on the Official World Golf Ranking, needs to rally quickly following two disappointing days in the event which is jointly sanctioned by the Asian Tour and PGA Tour.

"I'm going to relax. I don't want to do any more putting. Just go back and relax.

Sometimes if you do more practice, it really confuses you so I just want to go back, take a rest, sleep and forget about everything," said the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, the other Malaysian in the 78-player field, Danny Chia is still struggle to find the rhythm in his game.

In Friday's round Chia shot a two-over 74 to follow up yesterday's 75, for a two-day total of 149. – Bernama
