KUALA TERENGGANU: Several major rivers in Terengganu are reported to be at alarming levels following continuous heavy rain since Wednesday night.According to the Terengganu National Security Council (MKN) portal, the readings at Chalok River near Setiu is currently as high as 8.86 meters, well above the danger level of 8.40 meters.Terengganu MKN Acting Secretary Roslina Ngah said three other rivers which exceeded danger levels were Setia River in Besut village, Telemong River in Kuala Ping and Marang River in Pengkalan Berangan.ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) has Thursday announced emergency holiday for the university due to calamity as floods hit the campus grounds early Thursday.Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Ibrahim Komoo said UMT safety division staff were in the midst of evacuating students and staff who are trapped in the lecture complex and other buildings. – Bernama
