Disciplinary action taken on 250 Johor police officers, personnel

KULAIJAYA: Disciplinary action was taken on 250 Johor senior police officers and personnel for various offences from January to October this year.Johor Police Chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said 47 officers and personnel were still interdicted and 24 suspended.

"A total of 245 disciplinary investigation papers were opened, involving 290 individuals comprising 24 senior officers, 261 personnel of various ranking and five public officers," he told reporters at the Kulaijaya Police Headquarters here Thursday. Earlier, Mohd Mokhtar officiated the Johor contingent level Anti-Corruption Campaign 2014.

Hence he said a new department called the Integrity Standard and Compliance Department was established in July to improve the effectiveness of supervision, enforcement and rehabilitation in tackling disciplinary offences among officers, personnel and public officers.

"I urge all officers and personnel to continue practising good values while working, especially in avoiding corruption," he said.

At the event, 20 officers and personnel who have rejected corruption from January to June 2014 were presented letters of appreciation from the Inspector-General of Police by Mohd Mokhtar.

He said the campaign was beneficial to the police in implementing the police's main focus as a platform to form a strategic team to strengthen integrity standard and compliance.
