PKR queries 'white elephant' Kunak terminal

KUNAK: The construction of Kunak Bus Terminal has been completed for close to a year but there is no sign indicating it would be operational soon. Silam PKR Deputy Chief I Djapri Kudosat said the terminal has remained abandoned although it was expected to be operational since last July. "I want the local authorities to commence bus services from the new terminal immediately, so the public can benefit from it or risk it being a waste of taxpayers' money," he said. ADVERTISEMENT According to Djapri, many bus operators were not willing to operate from the new terminal as it was built in an isolated area. He said another problem was that the access road leading to the terminal was too narrow for express buses to enter. "This shows that the project was not carefully planned and was approved without a complete structure plan. Now the profit goes to the contractor. "The audit department must take note of the matter," he said. ADVERTISEMENT Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
