TONGOD: The new building of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan Tongod is expected to be ready for occupation very soon. Saying it would benefit some 500 pupils, Upko Supreme Council member Felix Joseph Saang hoped the Government would also look at the need for the school's rural hostel to be expanded in the near future.

The rural hostel is currently only able to provide for 100 pupils, although more than half the pupils are staying very far from the school, he said after he presented an appreciation certificate and contribution in the form of room equipment for the rural hostel recently.

The school's senior administration assistant, Abdah Sudin, received the certificate and contribution on behalf of the school. The hostel's welfare chairman, Ampo Laing, was also present.

The school's hostel was built four years ago and its presence has lessened the burden of some pupils who stayed very far away from the school, he said.

He is also confident that the Government would also fully equip the hostel with all the necessary basic equipment for the convenience of the boarding pupils.
