KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) has called for special attention be given to Sabah and Sarawak in the coming Malaysian Plan. Its President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup proposed that the Federal Government, when drafting the 11th Malaysian Plan, consider a separate section to cater for the eastern states.

"There is development imbalance between the peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak, as we are still far behind.

"Before this when a Malaysian Plan is prepared, it was done in general (for nationwide) so right now we want the eastern states section be specified.

"This could mean special funding or allocation to cater infrastructure and social economy advancement, with particular focus on the rural development programmes," he said when met during the party's supreme council meeting at PBRS headquarters, here, Sunday.

Next year would be the last year for the 10th Malaysian Plan, which started in 2011. The Government is expected to reveal the 11MP blueprint (2016-2020) in June 2015.

On another development, he said the meeting would also discuss the amendment to the flag and logo of the party.

"These are just technicalities and the change was to adjust to current needs.

"We will present this during the party's Annual General Meeting on Dec 13," said Kurup, adding that the party will also discuss on continuing their 'Walk for World Peace' programme to promote moderation and tolerance and reject extremism.
