Foreign imports quota almost filled
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah are certain to sign striker Éamon Zayed and defender Tales dos Santos to complete their foreign imports quota for the new season.Team manager George O'Callaghan told the media after the team's training session at the UMS Stadium on Monday that the contracts are already on the table and only waiting for their signature to complete the signing.

With the two imports all set to join, George has more or less settled on his preferred foreign imports with the other two being EL Hadji Diouf and Mitrovic Pedreg who was retained from last season.

He also said Brazilian Andrea Esposito whom he claimed has been fantastic in training and has a good attitude is also retained but will be loaned out until the transfer window re-opens.

"We have a couple of clubs interested in him, so hopefully we can get him a club until the second half of the season just in case we need him for the Malaysia Cup competition."

On the local players, he said he is still waiting for the right time to offer the contracts to the players.

He said it is a very tough decision to choose the right players as the team needs complete re-construction from the bottom up and the players need to work hard to prove their worth and despite only a short time left to finalise the team which has to be done by December 5, he is not pressing the panic button.

"There is no problem as it needs only two hours to sign the players. I have an idea of who I want but they have to keep showing to me they are willing to give everything and bring success to Sabah otherwise I won't be signing them."

He said two more local players, one a striker and another a right back from Selangor are set to come for trial today.

So far the local imports who came for trial that caught his attention were Perak's duo M Yoganathan and Khairi Kiman, Kedah's Shafiq Jamal and Shafuan Adli from PKNS and the last was former Harimau Muda Muhd Izuan Salahudin who came two days ago.

He also disclosed former Rhino Zuraindey Jumai who trained with the team since last week after playing for Kedah in the previous two seasons is also set to make the cut.
