KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat was Tuesday told the number of men who reported domestic violence was extremely small and as such the authorities had difficulties taking action. Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said based on feedback received, there were cases of men victims of domestic violence but they were not reported.

"The Domestic Violence Act has been amended recently on emotional abuse involving both parties and we take a serious view of the matter even though there are not many cases so far.

"As such, we want men to come forward and report any cases of domestic violence," she said when winding up the debate on the 2015 Supply Bill and the motion on 2015 Development Expenditure Estimates for her ministry.

Rohani however did not reveal any figures on the actual number of men victims of domestic violence.
