Filipino gets death for murder of man in LD

TAWAU: The High Court here on Wednesday sentenced a Filipino Suluk to death after he was found guilty of killing a man with a machete two years ago.Judicial Commissioner Azhahari Kamal Ramli handed the sentence to Pawak Kalinggalan, 48, after ruling that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt. Kamal murdered one Ibnu Salah together with nine accomplices still at large at Kg Air in Jalan Pantai, Lahad Datu at 10am on Sept 28, 2012.The offence, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries the death sentence.

During the trial, it was revealed that the cause of Ibnu's death was due to multiple slash injuries to his body which had resulted in bleeding.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

There were eight found on Ibnu's body such as slash wounds on his face, neck, head, shoulder and chest.Deputy Public Prosecutor Kamalia Yahdi appeared for the prosecution while Pawak was represented by counsel C. C Liew.
