Subsidised petrol seized from boat off S'kan

SANDAKAN: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) on routine patrol duty here seized subsidised petrol from a vessel some 9.5 nautical miles off the Segama River, here, Wednesday. MMEA Enforcement Chief Captain A. Razak Abd Rahman, in a statement, said the team also detained nine crew, including the skipper, aged between 24 and 65 who had no valid documents. He said the vessel was sailing from Sandakan towards the Philippines when the team stopped it for inspection at about 10am.

Among items seized were nine cooking gas cylinders, 17,300 litres of petrol inside 84 containers and 54 small gallons. He urged those with information on such activities to contact their Operations Centre at 089-229504 or the Malaysian Emergency Response System at 999.
