30 teams registered for Fustal Fiesta thus far

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 30 futsal teams have thus far registered with the Sabah Motoring Community Futsal Fiesta 2014 on Dec 7 at the Borneo Sport Arena (BSA) in Kolombong.Jointly organised by Sabah Prevean Motoring Club with Sabah Football Association (Safa), it is aiming to get participation from 40 teams.President of the motoring club, Johari Jasni, said the event is also being co-organise by Sabah Iswara Club, Perdana Prime Club, Kenarianz Club and Proton Persona Owners Club.

"It is a fundraising programme in aid of the Seri Mengasih Centre and this programme is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports."It will be the first of its kind in Sabah because it is being organised by motoring clubs, which is quite unusual," he said.He said some might ask why the event is being organised by motoring clubs instead of sports club.He explained that it is part of the club's charity programme.

To this, he said the main objective of the futsal fiesta is to promote healthy lifestyle among Sabahans especially among the motoring club."It is also to create awareness on persons with disability in Sabah as well as to highlight human triumph over their predicament," he said.

And most importantly, he said, to raise funds for Seri Mengasih Centre."This is the club's gesture of support to persons with disabilities in Sabah," he said.Seri Mengasih's mission to empower the trainees to be independent or semi-independent apparently inspired the club very much, he said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
