Blood drive in Tenom tomorrow

TENOM: The Tenom Thalassaemia Association has applauded the initiative by Ikatan Relawan Rakyat (Rela) and the Tenom Buddist Association for organising a blood donation drive to help the local hospital increase its blood supply.Its chairman, Simon Mamat said the move would be highly beneficial because the blood supply is diminishing. "Without the help and support of the public and from non-governmental organisations, this problem would be hard to solve as we need the help of everyone.

"You see, apart from providing blood for thalassaemia patients, who need blood transfusion twice monthly, the blood would also be used for those faced with chronic diseases such as leukaemia and those with kidney failures." Organising chairperson, Lim Jit King said the event will be held on Nov 30 from 8.30am to 2pm at the Pathology and Transfusion Unit at Tenom Hospital. – Mail Mathew
