LDP, PBS lodge reports
KOTA KINABALU: Separate reports were lodged by Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) – both components of the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition – urging investigations into the probability that a "Project IC" to legalise illegal immigrants in exchange for votes existed as reported in the Royal Commission of Enquiry findings. In their report at the Karamunsing police station Sunday and later at the MACC, LDP Youth told the police and Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) that sufficient evidence had been presented before the Commission which gave rise to reasonable or even a strong suspicion that "Project IC" did or maybe still exists in Sabah.

"Since that the RCI's role is confined to the eight terms of reference entrusted to them under the Commissions of Enquiry Act 1950, it was not under the scope of the Commission to investigate further into the Project IC cases," its Chief, Tsang Hieng Yee, said.

"We urge the police and MACC to…also take necessary action to eradicate and stop the issuance of ICs to illegal immigrants once and for all.

"Police and MACC must go to the bottom of the matter and reveal all personnel, individuals or syndicates who had been involved, taking part, orchestrating, pushing, instructing, undertaking or even abetting such illegal and heartless activities, no matter who they are.

"Especially those named in paragraph 3.1.7 and 3.2 of the Report and to arrest them and prosecute them should the result of the investigation warrant so," he said.

Tsang said the RCI report was very transparent, open, unbiased, brave and straight forward unlike as cricitised by many opposition leaders.

After having read the whole report, he was confident it never covered up anybody nor dismissed the existence of "Project IC" and the involvement of high powered political figures behind it.

Tsang urged everybody to read the report before making criticisms as it would be very unfair to the Commissioners who had worked so hard to conduct the enquiry and to come out with the report.

"Not only has the report not attempted to cover up anybody or dismiss the existence of "Project IC" and the involvement of high powered political figures behind it, it has bravely and without bias, concluded at page 300 that "it was more likely than not, that "Project IC" did exist as reflected in the evidence of the five witnesses aforesaid."

Tsang concurred with a Commissioner, Prof Datuk Dr Kamaruzaman Ampon, that nowhere in the Report the Commission concluded "Project IC" did not exist or that "no political personnel was involved.

In its report, PBS Supreme Council Member Chin Teck Ming, PBS Tandek Chief Webley Disim and PBS Sulaman Chief Rakam Sijim want the culprits behind the "Project IC" to be brought to justice.

Also at the Karamunsing Police Station at about 8.59am, Monday, were Kiulu Assemblyman Datuk Johniston Bangkuai and PBS Information Chief Datuk Jahid Jahim.

"The RCI findings showed high probability of a Project IC and we in PBS are of the view that this is reasonable ground for police to investigate further," said Chin.

He likened "Project IC" to treason of the highest level and wanted immediate investigation and bring those involved to justice.

A similar police report was lodged by the Angkatan Gabungan Rakyat Asli Sabah (Agaras) Deputy President Patrick Sadom at the Penampang Police Department at about 2.47pm the same day.

"We want the police to investigate and suggest that our leaders as well as non-governmental organisations work together to urge the government to revoke all suspicious documents," he said.

He said if possible the State Government could convene an emergency session of the State Assembly to deliberate on the matter.
