Toto aids christian Orang Aslis

KUALA LUMPUR: Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd reached out to the Orang Asli Christian community in Pahang to celebrate early Christmas on Dec 6.The company collaborated with the Strategic Education Methods & Ongoing Advancements Bhd (Semoa), a non-governmental-organisation aiming to help developing the Orang Asli community in the country, to throw a Christmas carnival for more than 600 indigenous Christians in Raub, Pahang.

According to Sports Toto communications manager Giam Say Khoon, sharing and caring for the underprivileged communities have always been a part of the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) as it aims to promote and inculcate the spirit of giving and compassion.

"We hold on to the principle that everyone deserves to share the joy every festive season and we hope that through our little gesture of gifting, all of us can learn to spread the meaningful value of sharing and caring to our friends and family," he said.

Sports Toto had contributed a total of RM27,500 in the form of Christmas presents and ang pows to the adults and children as well as a sumptuous feast buffet.

The guests were treated to play games and win prizes at the carnival and the celebration started with a Christmas carolling performance by the children who stayed at the Semoa dormitory in Raub to receive education at the adjacent schools, magic show and ended with a Christmas concert in the evening.

Sports Toto has started celebrating Christmas with the indigenous group since 2010 and it has been conscientiously carrying out various festive CSR programs throughout the years, which include the Chinese New Year ang pow donation campaign, Raya goodwill visits to child patients in the government hospitals, Deepavali charity donation drive as well as the Harvest and Gawai cheers with the underprivileged in East Malaysia.
