JOHOR BARU: PAS has asked DAP leaders to be more prudent in making statements on PAS policies. PAS Dewan Ulama information chief Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali at-Takiri said PAS respected the democratic right of the DAP to hold differing views and to disagree, but it was inappropriate and not good for the DAP to continue to dispute PAS' right to champion hudud laws. "It is an attempt to break up the Pakatan Rakyat (PR)," he said, adding that this was one of the many DAP moves that questioned PAS actions, including in relation to the now-settled Selangor menteri besar issue. ADVERTISEMENT Mohd Khairuddin said common policies where there could be compromise formed a part of the joint general election manifesto based on the concept of a welfare state and a fair-for-all state. He also said that each of the PR parties respected the differences in policies and struggles of the other parties, which formed the basis of the understanding in PR. Mohd Khairuddin said Islamic criminal law, including hudud, was a part of the non-bargainable PAS struggle. "It is the right of PAS to continue to struggle for the implementation of the law for Muslims in Muslim-majority Kelantan and Terengganu, unless non-Muslims wanted it to be implemented for them as well," he said.
