Local man claims trial to raping teenage daughter

KOTA KINABALU: A 46-year-old Dusun was on Wednesday charged with raping his daughter.The man pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Indra Ayub to committing incest on the 14-year-old girl at 1pm in September 2013 at a house in Kota Marudu.The offence, under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of between eight years and 30 years and at least 10 strokes of the cane, upon conviction.

Indra fixed Jan 15 next year for case management and ordered the man to be remanded further.Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Chan Qin Yee objected to bail on the grounds that the alleged victim is the man's daughter and there is a high possibility he would tamper with her and other witnesses.Chan also submitted that the facts of the case stated that the man had raped his daughter since she was six years old.However, counsel Korventt Whezeer asked for bail to be granted saying the man who has five children has a gall bladder problem which requires treatment.

In another court, two local Chinese and a Pakistani with a MyKad claimed trial to allowing and hiring illegal immigrants.Munir Wahid, 51, is accused of permitting an 18-year-old Pakistani without any valid document to stay at the Salman Khan shop in Vista Minintod, Penampang at 3.25pm on Oct 9 this year.

Edwin Wong Yoon, 20, allegedly employed three Filipinos between 1.10pm and 1.50pm on Nov 17 at the 33 Seafood Restaurant in KK Taipan, Inanam.
