Illegal entry: Filipino jailed

LAHAD DATU: A 41-year-old Filipino was sentenced to 12 months' jail and ordered given four strokes of the cane for entering the State illegally.Sessions Court Judge Steve Ritikos imposed the sentence on Eugen Olimpio Mankikes after he pleaded guilty.

Eugen was arrested on Nov 17 this year at Km 15 along Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan after failing to produce any documents to police. The court ordered Eugen referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence. – Efa Rizan
