Customs officers, staff urged to increase knowledge

LAHAD DATU: Officers and personnel of the Customs Department have been encouraged to increase their knowledge, as it could assist in the implementation of daily tasks. Customs Enforcement Division Deputy Director, Yunos Tahir, said those in the department, especially senior officers and supervisors need to have an extensive knowledge as they serve as a reference to other officers and the people.Yunos said without knowledge, they will have difficulty carrying out their duties and tend to make mistakes.

"I am confident if we master knowledge and practice it in implementing our daily tasks we could achieve the five aspects of speed, professional, efficiency, effectiveness, and be dynamic and lead us to be a world-class Customs service."However, it is not an easy task to obtain the recognition, instead it needs the commitment and sacrifice from all levels and I believe if we could implement all five aspects, we will be able to achieve the target," he said.
Yunos said this during his speech at the closing of the State Pidato and Knowledge, Skill and Ability Quiz Convention that aims to assist those in the department generate and increase their knowledge here.

The quiz was won by Lahad Datu, followed by Sandakan and Tawau in third place, while the individual category went to Kasman Kamarudin.

The Pidato competition was won by Flesia Henry from Tawau, followed by Adrina Sulaiman, also from Tawau and third place went to Nuraila Nabila from Sandakan.
