Sabah Credit to double its spending on CSR programme

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Credit Corporation plans to double its spending on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.Its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Vincent Pung disclosed this during the handing over and opening of the Sabah Family Planning Association's (SFPA) main clinic's extended wing here, Thursday.He explained that previously, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman had suggested they increase the amount as part of their objectives to assist Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to organise their programmes as well as improve their facilities.

"Sabah Credit Corporation had since 2005 donated RM20 million for charity purposes," he said, adding that they had assisted in the building of 25 hostels accommodating children from the interior throughout Sabah as well as about six orphanages.Pung also stated that the Sabah Nurses Association had come forward with their plan to put up a building to accommodate retired nurses.
He also commented on Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Richard Malanjum's idea to build a hostel to accommodate individuals from rural areas who seek treatment at the hospital.

According to him, Musa earlier had urged the Land and Survey Department to look for a land for the building of the facility.Meanwhile, SFPA President Liew King Hee said with the main clinic's new extended wing, the clinic is now more spacious and conducive.

"It does not only enhance the working environment of the staff but also creates a cosier and friendlier ambience for the patients and clients," he said.He said SFPA has been in existence for over four decades since the birth of its first branch in Sandakan in 1967."The occupancy of the association headquarters at this building dates way back to 1973."In May 1995 till April 1997, the building was renovated and extended with a new block and was officiated on May 10, 1997 in conjunction with the association's 30th anniversary," he said. Meanwhile, the association, according to its State FPA Manager, Angela Tsen emphasises on reproductive health and family planning services in all parts of Sabah."We also offer clinical counselling for reproductive health and family planning," she said. Earlier on Dec 13, SFPA Kota Kinabalu branch had celebrated its Open Day and had provided free blood glucose test, body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure checks for the public as well as promotional offers for Pap smear, HPV vaccine, electrocardiography (ECG), breast scan and general blood screening.
