KOTA KINABALU: A 61-year-old Sino-Pakistani was on Thursday charged with raping a disabled girl.Chang Kuit Kui @ Abdul Karim pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Dean Wayne Dally to the charge against him.Chang is accused of raping the 17-year-old girl at 1pm on Dec 2 this year at a room in Masindung Resort in Kg Kawang, Papar.

The offence under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.Dally fixed Jan 27 next year for case management and ordered Chang remanded further pending the date.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Chan Qin Yee objected to bail on the grounds that Chang might tamper with prosecution witnesses.Chang who was not represented told the court that he needed a lawyer.

One of Chang's daughters who talked on behalf of her father told the court that her father is not in good health and hoped the court would grant him bail.The daughter also had informed the court that Chang was arrested last Friday.

The court ordered them to serve the jail sentence consecutively.The court heard that they sold the laptop for RM60 and that one of them had confessed his mother was sick and needed money.
