Man, juvenile charged with robbing cop's sister with pistol

KOTA KINABALU: A man and a juvenile were on Friday charged with robbing a policeman's sister with a pistol.Metodius Calixtus Joseph, 21, and the 17-year-old boy pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz to robbing one Norsilah Ahmad Kifli of her car, a MyKad belonging to her brother Sharul Nizam Ahmad Kifli, a police ID belonging to Sharul and a police vehicle driving licence.They allegedly committed the offence armed with a pistol together with another accused Mohd Khairul fadzly Mohd Zaini who was absent, at 1.50am on Nov 20 this year by the roadside in Kg Pikat, Bongawan, Papar.

The offence under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.Azreena fixed Jan 26 for case management and no bail was offered to them.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Chow Siang Kong appeared for the prosecution while the duo was not represented.In the same court, one of 19 foreigners charged with entering the State illegally, claimed she is currently three-months pregnant. Azreena then sent her to the hospital for confirmation of her pregnancy and fixed Jan 12 for mention.

Meanwhile, the rest were jailed four and five months each after they pleaded guilty to entering the State without any document.The men were given a stroke of the cane while the women and young offenders were spared the whip.

Some of the foreigners told the court that they had stayed in the State since they were born and were working as labourers, fishermen, rubber tappers and gardeners.
