KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said women in Sabah have progressed so much that they are now just as able in playing a leading role in politics, government and business, as well as non-governmental organisations (NGOs), professional and charitable organisations. He said this achievement is a reflection of how much women have progressed and the State Government's endorsement of their contribution to society at large. "In today's world, women are increasingly empowered to take the lead in social, economic and political spheres, making them a force to reckon with in many fields," he said.

"This is from my years of observation on working and dealing with women from all aspects of my life as a leader, a politician, a husband and as a father. Your role in nation building and your increasing participation in government, politics and business will positively help shape the course that Malaysia takes," he added. It is safe to say that the people should not misjudge the power of women in whatever that they are pursuing, he said, adding women are not only good financial managers but also have tremendous organisation skills and acute power of persuasion.
"Nonetheless, women must continuously empower themselves through education, be knowledgeable and innovative to stay ahead…the Government is committed to women's welfare and will strive to provide a healthy environment for you to participate in mainstream development," he said when officiating at the Innovative Entrepreneurs: Dare to Dream programme organised by MyWin Academy Berhad, at Le Meridien, here, Friday. Appreciating and supporting the initiative of Special Adviser to Prime Minister on Women and Social Development Affairs, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, who is also MyWin Chairwoman, for bringing the said programme to Sabah, the Chief Minister urged women especially those in business to take full advantage of such programme that can definitely help them upgrade their respective knowledge and skills.

Supporting such women empowering initiative and effort, Musa said the Government always strives to help the entrepreneurs, particularly the Bumiputera entrepreneurs, to continue progressing, be dynamic and competitive. "However, this greatly depends on the positive attitude, discipline, interest and high determination among our entrepreneurs themselves in making an effort to increase their respective knowledge in various business management aspects," he said.

He said although it is not that easy to produce successful entrepreneurs, it is not something that is impossible to achieve if all combine efforts to achieve further advancement, socially and economically, that can contribute to the country's economic development progress. Speaking at a media conference later, Sharizat commended Musa for his excellent leadership saying she had received positive feedback from the women in Sabah that Musa's administration gives them opportunities to excel, especially in business. MyWin is meant to create an ecosystem that is innovative, she said, adding they chose Sabah as venue for the MyWin pilot project because they identified that Sabah has the ecosystem that can assist in transforming women into innovative businesswomen.
