Continue to nurture cultural values, Hamisa urges youngsters

TAWAU: The young generation has been urged to continue to nurture and sustain their cultural values so that these remain relevant and not lost in modernisation.Resource Development and Information Technology Assistant Minister Datuk Hamisa Samat said it is important for all young people to understand how precious the value of multi-racial culture is in the country."Young generations are the heirs of the rich tradition of their ancestors so it is the government's hope that they would protect and love their own culture, said Hamisa at a circumcision programme at the vicinity of the Kuala Merotai Besar mosque here Saturday.

Hamisa, who is Tanjong Batu assemblywoman, said the government is proud of the young generation today for showing interest in the culture of each race. "What is remarkable is that, young people today learn the culture of other races such as dances and it would indirectly strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity among the community," she said.
