LABUAN: The giant LED screen in front of Wisma Perbadanan here will be turned off earlier at night. In a statement in response to a Daily Express report on November 18, the local authority said it did not receive any complaints from the public that the screen, located at a traffic light junction, was a distraction.

In the report "Labuan's LCD a road hazard claim", some members of the public had expressed views that the bright glare of the LCD at night was distracting motorists.

They argued that the screen would be more suitable to target pedestrians at the Labuan Square.

Labuan Corporation (LC) said the screen was a popular medium to disseminate up-to-date information by government agencies.

The traffic situation was still under control and unaffected by the screen.

LC advised road users to be considerate and abide by the traffic rules and regulations.

It explained that the screen was erected in front of its headquarters was to reduce the risk of vandalism.

It hoped to erect another screen at the Labuan Square under the 2015 budget.
