KOTA BARU: Kelantan police have arrested eight men and three women who were suspected to be involved in a scratch-and-win syndicate operating around Kota Baru since last Friday.Kota Baru District Police Chief ACP Rohaimi Md Isa said based on information received from the public, his department arrested a man at 3pm on Saturday near a supermarket, here."After interrogating the man, we arrested another 10 individuals including three women at an apartment in Pelangi Mall here, at 8.30pm," he said when contacted Sunday.ADVERTISEMENT Rohamimi said police also seized vouchers and promotional materials used to deceive the public.He said the syndicate's modus operandi was to attract the public by offering lucrative prizes through a scratch-and-win contest. "All the suspects are in their 20's and 30's, coming from outside (Kelantan), and they were believed to have been sent to different states on rotation," said Rohaimi.He said all the suspects were remanded for four days beginning Sunday, and the case would be investigated according to Section 420/511 of the Penal Code for attempted cheating. – Bernama
