KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan should break his silence and state his stand on several issues pertaining to the offer for him to chair the Working Committee on illegal immigrants in Sabah.DAP Adviser Lim Kit Siang said Pairin should state whether he has accepted and has started work as Chairman of the Working Committee and who are the full members of the Working Committee.

"When is the first meeting of the Working Committee and the regularity of its meetings. What is the deadline for the Working Committee to complete and submit its report to the Permanent Committee?" asked Lim, who is Gelang Patah MP, in a statement Sunday.

Lim said Pairin should also state whether he and the Working Committee members have full access to the 6,000 missing pages in the RCI report and if the committee could ensure these pages are published for public study.

"What are the priority business of the Working Committee and whether he would ask the Sabah Chief Minister to convene an emergency meeting of the Sabah State Assembly within the next 30 days to debate the RCI report.

"He should also state whether the Working Committee can ensure that the authorities would recall all ICs in Sabah and carry out a Statewide re-registration exercise of ICs to flush out all illegal and fake documentation.

"And whether the Working Committee can ensure that there will be two-day full debate on the RCI report when Parliament reconvenes on March 9," said Lim.
