50-year-old man admits to assaulting wife

KOTA KINABALU: A 50-year-old local man admitted to causing hurt to his wife.However, Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus deferred sentencing on Oi Lee Kui @ Eddie to Jan 5 pending the medical report of the victim.Oi was accused of assaulting his 33-year-old wife at 3.30pm on Dec 16 this year at Taman Bangsawan, here.

Balitus offered Oi bail at RM2,000 in two local sureties.The offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year, or fine, or both on conviction.In another case, five people were fined for drink driving, respectively.Bryon Chung Sze Vui, 21, Nazreen Ezzam Jamian, 25, and Navin Rajah, 34, were ordered to pay a fine of RM1,500 or three months behind bars while Petrus Suati, 42, and Mohd Nazri Mahirin, 26, were fined RM2,000 in default two weeks' jail each.
