Three jailed for breaking into houses in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Three men were jailed Monday by the Magistrate's Court here for three counts of burglary.Magistrate Haris sentenced Jow Ali, 22, to 148 months' jail and his two accomplices, Mohd Asri Inding, 20, and Herwan Hamsah, 25, to 138 months' jail each after they pleaded guilty to breaking into a number of houses between September and October, this year.They were charged under Section 457 of the Penal Code.

The trio were arrested on October 16 at Kampung Panji and Kampung Pisang following reports lodged by three victims.On the first count, on Sept 12, a 48-year-old man's house at Taman Executive was broken into and found his mobile phone, coins and keys missing.Investigations found that two of the accused, Mohd Asri and Herwan broke into the house at 6.15am through the front door, while Jow waited outside the house.Following their arrest, police found stolen items, including a mobile phone belonging to the 48-year-old victim, Tey Tai Kun.

On the second count, following police investigation revealed that the three accused also broke into a house at Taman Sri Perdana on Oct 2. According to the victim, he lost a laptop, RM80 cash, bank cards, driving licence and car keys.Following their arrest, police found the items belonging to the victim, Paizul Fabin.

Meanwhile, for the third count, the three pleaded guilty to breaking into a house at Kampung Muhibbah on Oct 16, stealing a laptop, mobile phone, watch and leather bag.Investigation found that one of them entered the house through the windows while two others waited outside the house. Following their arrest, police found several stolen items, including the leather bag belonging to the victim, Abd Rashid Abd Rahim.The Court ordered Jow and Mohd Asri to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving their sentence for further action.
