50 illegals held in blitz at Inanam squatter villages

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 50 illegal immigrants were detained in an integrated operation at two squatter villages in Inanam, near here, Monday.City Police Chief ACP M. Chandra said they were picked up in Kg Inanam Laut and Kg Sinulihan in the "Ops Nyah Sabah" from 11am to 7am.He said a total of 89 squatters were roped in from the two villages and after screening 50 of them were detained for failing to provide any valid identification or travel documents.

"Of the 50, 32 are from the Philippines including seven children, while the remaining are Indonesians including two children."About 200 personnel and seven officers from various relevant departments and agencies like police, City Hall, Sabah Federal Task Force, Rela, Immigration Department, General Operations Force (GOF) and National Registration Department (NRD) took part in the integrated operation that will be conducted from time to time," he said.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday. M. Chandra said nine men including six with no documents and two IMM13 holders were detained after their urine tested positive for drugs.He said the operation will be conducted from time to time to flush out illegal immigrants in squatter areas here and to track down crime suspects who may be hiding in the squatter villages.
