Diversity is what makes M'sia unique, says IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: The Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar wished all Malaysian Christians a Merry Christmas. Representing the police force, the IGP said Malaysian society was famous for its multi-ethnicity and religious celebrations."Celebrating diversity is what makes Malaysia unique. "The spirit of 1Malaysia has been able to generate a harmonious situation, where we can accept and respect the differences of religion while celebration numerous festivities," he said in Christmas address on Wednesday.

Khalid also hoped that this year's Christmas would strengthen the unity among Malaysians, especially the relations between police personnel and the community.

"The tradition of open houses is unique to our country, thus I am confident that the police and the community will be able to continuously work together to ensure that our country remains a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous.

"I hope the people will always be mindful of the safety of their families and belongings while enjoying themselves this holiday period," he said.
