Charred body found in car near Sandakan cemetery

SANDAKAN: The charred remains of an adult were found in the bonnet of a car at the entrance of a Chinese cemetery in Jalan Cecily, Batu 4, here, Wednesday.Sandakan Fire and Rescue station chief Haikal Jammy Ngali Abdullah said seven firefighters and a fire engine were dispatched to the scene upon receiving a call about the incident at about 9.38am."The burnt body was found inside the car's bonnet," he said.ADVERTISEMENT He, however, said no operation to put out the fire was carried out as the car was already gutted when the firefighters arrived at 9.46am. Sandakan deputy police chief Supt Fadzil Mohd Ali said the owner of the car, identity of the victim and next-of-kin have yet to be ascertained.He said police who were on patrol found the car at 9.40am."Initial investigations revealed that the Proton Wira car was completely burnt while police found the body in the booth of the car," he told when contacted Wednesday.ADVERTISEMENT He said police were waiting for the pathology report from the hospital to determine the identity of the victim.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
