KOTA KINABALU: A total of 20 disabled students in UMS took part in the Disability Equality Training (DET) course aimed at raising the awareness of the public on issues affecting disabled people.Other than that, the course was also held to change the public perception as well as the current system and policies to accommodate the disabled people.

UMS Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Prof Ismail Ali said the course is able to give exposure to the participants and to bridge the gap between them and the public.

"I believe that although we may not be able to see the fruits of our efforts today, at least those after us will enjoy the effects in the future," he said during the opening ceremony.

The programme was organised by Kolej Kediaman CD, UMS Student Affairs Department and Psychology and Social Health Research Unit.
